Richard Hunter
Richard Hunter has been the owner of Mr. S Leather in San Francisco for the last 20 years. Along with his amazing staff of talented leather workers, he has helped design and develop the iconic collection of Bondage and S&M toys, and leather, latex and neoprene clothing that Mr.S is famous for. Richard designed and photographed the 100's of guys that were in the classic black & white paper catalog and the current Mr. S Leather web pages.
A long standing member of the Chicago Hellfire Club since 1985, he sees the 'scene' more from a 'Players' standpoint then any other perspective. Having found himself as a 'slave' at his beginnings, he's moved to a 'boy'...a 'top' and a 'Daddy' over the last 30 years. The leather scene for Richard has been both a great business venture and a place of personal exploration into his deeper sexual interest.
After being part of the media for some 22 years, both in radio and TV, as a DJ and then talk show host... he ended that long career by mooning on his live broadcast TV show. A 22 year career ended in 2 minutes...but that led him to opening 2 leather stores in Florida and then coming out to San Francisco in 1991 and taking over Mr. S Leather.
Richard is actually quite a 'private person', even though he has a rather public life. In the many years of being part of the leather scene, he has been a Daddy and mentor to the many boys who have come into his life. Those intimate connections and friendships are what has made all of this craziness worthwhile. Richard's photographs have been an attempt to capture that place, where this kind of intense sexual expression can take one.
Now at the age of 65 he has finally retired from the day-to-day business of running Mr. S and has retired to his country place nestled up in the Yosemite Mountains of central California.
